Mamas Fish House specializes in signature dishes like their famous pan-seared ahi tuna and coconut prawns, as well as daily specials like Hawaiian ceviche and mahi tacos. This plethora of flavorful options reflects the proud history of Mamas Fish House and its deep connection to the people and culture of Maui.
The restaurant was founded by Bill Popko and his wife Bev in 1973. The couple had recently moved to Maui from Massachusetts with their two sons, Mike and Andy. While being deeply enamored by the laidback lifestyle that Maui offered, they also saw opportunity within the culinary scene. Taking inspiration from traditional Hawaiian staples such as poi (similar to mashed potatoes), laulau (meat wrapped in taro leaves) and lomi salmon (dried fish), Bill & Bev created unique cuisine created with freshest locally caught fish.
Today, Mamas Fish House still upholds its original standards by sourcing ingredients from local fishermen whenever possible. Its commitment to quality is evident in every meal served at its waterfront location in Paia town. Despite entering its fourth decade in business, visitors can still expect new twists on classic favorites when visiting Mama’s – like Ahi poke nachos or sweet coconut-crusted shrimp – both of which feature prominently on the menu today!
Whether you’re looking for a romantic ambiance or just want a casual meal after exploring Paia’s shops and beaches, Mamas Fish House offers it all under one roof! From satisfying your taste buds to taking in theatrical ocean views – there truly is no better spot on Maui than Mamas Fish House Paia! Direction to the next location.
