Location-wise, Pearl City is located about 20 miles outside Honolulu and is central within O‘ahu; it’s close enough to city life but far enough away that you can enjoy that relaxed island feeling without being too far away from all the action. It’s easily accessible by car thanks to its location along the H-1 Freeway and also features a public bus line connecting it with Honolulu and other O‘ahuan towns. 

When it comes to demographics, Pearl City’s population is mostly composed of native Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders (34%) as well as Asian Americans (41%). The median age in this community is 34 years old and nearly 70% percent of households are occupied by married couples with children under 18 years old. 

History-wise, Pearl City dates back to 1844 when it was founded by missionaries from England who named it after British Admiral George Anson’s famous pearl fleet. The area was originally used for agricultural purposes but went through several transformations over time; during WWII, military bases were set up near here which caused an influx of service members which increased the population significantly. It wasn’t until 1960 that Pearl City became its own incorporated district separate from Ewa Beach; since then it has become known for its active community involvement as well as its vibrant culture.
